« A Fellow's Tale: Yannick Herman's Mountain Story »
Dive deep into the world of Vuarnet’s Fellowship Alpine Emissary Program through A Fellow’s Tale: Mountain Stories, a collection of alpine vignettes.
« To fly in the mountains, given the commitment it requires [...] to lovethe mountain, in all its aspects. »
Yannick is a pilot of the Section Aérienne Gendarmerie (SAG) of Chamonix and works closely with the Peloton Gendarmerie HauteMontagne (PGHM). Mountain guides, rescuers and judicial police officers use Yannick’s helicopter for transport to a scene for administering care. Given the need for highly skilled precision demanded by the Mont Blanc massif, mountain rescues are extremely intense there. On a daily basis Yannick is immersed in the “action, adrenaline, responsibility” that a rescue inflicts. Through the anxiety and the pressure, he must manage his piloting: the flight, the approach, and the landing of his aircraft.
A Fellow’s Tale: Mountain Stories is a collection of vignettes from the Vuarnet Fellowship Alpine Emissary Program. Vuarnet Fellows are relentless explorers and athletes, just as Vuarnet is relentless in our dedication to craftsmanship and quality protection. The Fellowship is an inclusive space that fosters an extraordinary sense of community in celebration of our inherent quest to commune with the mountains. A Fellow’s Tale explores the human side of experience, the desire to transcend ourselves and our Fellows’ essential need to pursue their particular paths in life.
